Cervical cerclage

Allie • Momma to my angel 👼🏻 and my rainbow 🌈 💛

My husband & I are TTC baby #2 after the first of the year, I will be high risk due to losing my son Nov 3rd at 22w 6d from an Incompetent Cervix. My doc says that they will place the cerclage at about 13 weeks. I’ve done my research on them & they have a high percentage of success but it would be encouraging to hear personal success stories if anyone has had an IC with a cerclage. 💙🌈 hoping to bring my son lots of younger siblings that he can look after from Heaven!

I had a short cervix and was able to carry my twins until 34 weeks. I was also on bedrest from 20 weeks I was at risk of going into labor at any point. Cerclage was a life saver. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss and I wish you and your husband lots of baby dust.

Lost my firstborn at 20 weeks after my water broke at 19 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. Switched doctors with my second pregnancy and during my first appointment he diagnosed me and I had the procedure done 4 days later at about 14 weeks. No doubt he saved my daughter’s life. I did go on hospital bed rest at 22 weeks because even with the stitch my cervix was shortening and I was having contractions at 24 weeks but I stayed pretty strong and steady. Went on to have my daughter at 38 weeks, she will be six in February and is healthy as she can be. It’s nerve racking as hell but I am confident in the procedure, my doctor couldn’t even get the stitch out when it was time to deliver it was that well done.

I was there in total from 22 to 34 weeks, my doctor said after 34 weeks if I went into labor they would deliver. But from 34 to 38 weeks was easy, still saw my doc twice a week and did basically the same thing at home. It totally sucked being there for my birthday, anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years but without a doubt the strongest, bravest thing I ever did in my life.

I suffer from severe anxiety, ever since I was a preteens. So I loved being in the hospital because it eased my sense of fear, I got to hear my baby’s heartbeat twice a day and I didn’t have cook, lol. My dad also works for the hospital I was at so he visited every other day, and then my mom, husband and occasional friend would fill in the other days. Also my husband was able to bring my dog up to my room. I played a lot of games on my IPad, watched A LOT of tv, and napped.

How did you not go crazy in the hospital? I’ve been on hospital bed rest for 3 weeks (since week 21) and I just can’t imagine another 10 weeks here.

I have a cerclage and use progesterone suppositories. I’m currently 31+4 and still holding this boy in. I had preterm labor at 24 weeks.

Nope. Just pelvic rest. And I call or go in every time I have an issues. I’ve had weekly appointments and ultrasounds since 16 weeks.
