You do you. I’d rather prevent my newborn from dying from pertussis.

Well the tdap is more so to protect your baby so 🤷‍♀️ to each there own I guess. I do know 3 babies who got whooping cough and 1 who actually came close to dying. All because the mother didnt get the shot.

They recommend the TDAP to pass immunity on to the unborn baby. They can’t get shots until 2 months so it’s to protect them.

I’m all for everyone choosing what is right for themselves and their family, but I work in an emergency room and I’ve seen first hand what whooping cough looks like and it’s just horrific. If you could in any way spare your child that kind of torture, I’d seriously recommend it 😕

I’ve gotten it with every pregnancy. I honestly wouldn’t skip it.

They don’t do clinical trials on pregnant women which is why the insert says that. But they do plenty of retroactive studies on pregnant women and there is no risk to you or baby. TDap is important to have before baby is born so you pass immunity down to the baby before he/she is born to prevent them from getting a deadly and horrible disease. Whooping cough is unfortunately very prominent now specifically because of anti-vaxxers. Same with measles, mumps, polio (not in US) etc. these diseases are preventable and it works best with herd immunity so those who can’t get the vaccine due to ALLERGIES or other REAL MEDICAL ISSUES (not just because you read an insert and don’t feel comfortable) are also still protected because the diseases become less prevalent in society

No studies have been done but thousands of women get the shot in their 3rd trimester every year. I’d do more research because the shot protects your baby as they absorb some of the vaccine inside you and can’t get the vaccine themselves until 2 months. I have a friend who opted out of the Flu and TDAP with her first baby and her son almost died when he was 3 weeks old from whooping cough, I watched him struggle and live in the NICU for several weeks fighting for his life and that was enough for me to know I’ll never turn down a vaccine my OB recommends to protect myself and my child.

It’s up to you but I’d do my research on its benefits for baby. Whopping cough is deadly for children, especially infants.

Do more research.

No studies have been done because it’s typically considered unethical to do research studies like that on pregnant women. They can however, go back and review the outcomes of women who got the TDAP. I got it with my son and will be doing it again with any more children.
