I’m sure this has probably been asked numerous times so if you don’t want to give a legitimate answer simply scroll on :). I’m simply looking to be educated an i’m not looking for a fight. So, recently i have been very confused about cultural appropriation. In a fb group i am in a white woman was posted with a hairstyle that seemed to be dreadlock. Many users got very upset about this saying she was not allowed to wear them due to her culture. Braids were also mentioned as a hairstyle she could not wear. I’m very confused as to why there was so much upset about this as it is simply a hairstyle that she liked. There was also fighting about where the hairstyle originated from, many saying india.

In regards to cultural appropriation i feel like it further segregates cultures and going into the future i feel like we should all be appreciative of all the different cultures in the world. But it seems we can’t because of things like this. I’m not trying to be rude or offensive. And if this post has offended you in any way i’m very sorry. I’m simply trying to gain a deeper understanding and insight.
