So my son is 8 and ever since he was little he’s had a hard time calming down. As he got older and in 1st grade his teacher came to me with cone concerns about his lack of concentration and fidgeting. Now 2nd grade his teacher came to me with the same concerns and he’s struggling in school. Not getting work completed and not following directions or listening to the rules. I’ve also had this problem at home so the councilor said he thinks it would be best for my son to see his dr about possible adhd. I took him to the doctor and they had me fill out a Questionnaire on behavior. I wasn’t even finished and my son was playing angry birds and he gets so excited his entire body tenses up and shakes (it’s been an issue at school and he’s done it his whole life I thought he would grown out of it) and after the dr seeing that and telling her about what’s been going on she’s concerned and asked me to have the teacher fill out the same paper, to request an IEP evaluation for a learning disability, get him started in behavior therapy, and asked how I felt about medication if the evaluation comes back he has adhd. We go back to the dr in two weeks and I’ve been reading about meds for adhd and I’m on the fence about it. Any parents of adhd kids have any advice? Did you do meds? If so what kind? Did it help? People with ADHD please share your own experience on meds! I’m trying to be open and do what’s best for my son
