They raise minimum and simultaneously raise prices for everything

The minimum wage should be brought up to a living wage.

Minimum wage jobs aren’t supposed to support you in the long run. They are gateway jobs to careers.

Some of these comments man 🤧 1. Minimum wage IS suppose to be a livable wage. The intention of minimum wage when it was first implemented was so that a person regardless of their skill level can live off that wage. Obviously now, our definition of "livable" is has evolved but the principle is the same. 2. Minimum wage doesn't automatically raise the cost of living.. that's not how the economy works exactly. "A 2013 study by the Chicago Fed found that increasing the minimum wage even just to $9 would increase consumer spending by $28 billion."

The economy doesn’t work they way most of y’all think it does. Economists disagree with y’all. No one is asking Farmer Joe and Boutique Ann to pay their workers livable wages (most do honestly). These multi billion dollar companies should pay their workers a livable wage. The majority of people who work these jobs are single mothers who are trying to make ends meet. (Most already works two jobs). Honestly it’s really not unskilled work. What do employers look for in any field. Multitasking, attention to detail, organizing, time management, etc. My aunt and uncle was able to buy a house and set up a very cushioned lives for themselves off minimum wage jobs. 20+ years ago. A mentor of mine was able to pay her way through school in the 70’s working a minimum wage job. This isn’t the same for today and the wages have been the same. 🤷🏾♀️

I think it should be brought up to a livable wage. Minimum wage in my state (PA) is $7.75 (I think). I make double that and could never afford an apartment on my own. I find that to be ridiculous.

Yes. Prices are already steadily increasing, and minimum wage hasn’t caught up nationally. My city has been doing a staggered increase since 2015. Next year it will be at $13.00 an hour. I hope the rest of the country follows our example.

If you voted no thats some bull crap. I see a lot of people here that are saying "Just get a degree! You'll get a better job!" First of all college is expensive as hell. Most people take out student loans but you are litterally borrowing against your future. Starting out you adult life with negitive money!! Second our economy can't handle everyone getting degrees. When you have a degree usually a company has to pay you more so whose going to work at the lower level jobs? Third just because you have a degree doesnt mean you will find a well paying job. I have a friend who has a MASTERS DEGREE who works at Wal-Mart. Why you might ask. Because he job searched for months and months for something in his field and he couldn't find anything. Then he searched for lower level jobs and got turned away because he was "Over Qualified" which basically means we cant pay you what your worth so no job for you. He was lucky enough to get a job at Wal-Mart because my boyfriend was the manager at the time.

If minimum wage goes up so will the price of everything else, so it still won’t be brought up to a “livable wage” if it’s raised because the cost of living will also most likely go up too. Not to mention I don’t think taking fast food orders of flipping burgers requires more than $7.25 of work effort. If people don’t want to work minimum wage they should find another job or get the education requirements for another job.

Minimum wage hasnt kept up with inflation. It was designed to keep up with inflation and provide a living wage for low skill workers. It is waaaaaay past due to raise the federal minimum wage.
