Pregnancy and burpees?

This might sound dumb, but can you do lay down burpees during early pregnancy? I have a weird fear about slamming my abdomen on the floor, is that safe for baby? Also, are there any restrictions on ab work?

You CAN do burpees but I would honestly modify. I can do them and most all other things but have modified a lot (still same effort, just different movements) due to risks of Diastasis recti. It’s just not worth it, take a few months to get really solid in other movements.

Oh man, I cannot even think about burpees even at 14 weeks... all that up and down movement makes me so nauseous. If you’re worried about slamming your belly down, just don’t go down to the floor. Just kick your feet out behind you and make sure to support yourself and don’t lay all the way down.

Ab exercises are restrictive as the 2nd n 3rd trimester. You wanna avoid planks, sit ups, crunches etc. Anything that makes your belly cone, avoid.

There are quite a few variations on burpees, most of which don't involve "slamming" your belly to the floor, or even touching your belly to the floor (unless you have quite a big belly to start, I suppose). Maybe choose a different variation?

I did burpees until about 16 weeks. Then switched to modified. That was my preference because I felt as if there was too much pressure there.

I did burpees for a while into my preg. Baby is very low behind your public bone early on.
I did all regular ab exercises until it felt uncomfortable.
