Would you ban your child from exploring other religions other than yours (or joining a church/religious function if you are not religious)?

I was recently made aware that a girl (age 14) from my church’s youth group is not allowed to attend any of the church or youth group’s functions. Her parents aren’t religious, and will not allow her to join or even attend anything affiliated with our church (which is sad, because she’s expressed how she feels like she has a family here).

It got me thinking — would you ever keep your child from exploring their beliefs? Is there ever a situation where it’s okay to do so?

Personally, I think it’s sad — she’s old enough to think for herself. And it’s not like she’s pressing her beliefs on them, they just refuse to let her step foot in my church, or any other one. So what are your thoughts?
