How can I ensure my baby doesn’t get vaccinated? OB vs midwife?

I told my OB that I don’t want my baby to be vaccinated and she told me she was okay with it although she recommended it. I’m really against having my baby vaccinated. I’m afraid the nurses won’t listen to me, that they’ll take the baby out of the room to do it. Do you think I’m better off switching to a midwife and birthing center? I’m a FTM and I might want to have the epidural so I’m not sure I can get it with a midwife?

Midwives are better in my opinion. They respect your wishes more & let you have the birth plan you desire with little to no interventions. Plus you know you will get delayed cord clamping. They are far more educated on that than OB's. Also let you give birth in the position your body is telling you, not on your back. I was going to give birth at a birthing home, then do a home birth, but chickened out for the epidural (which I regret because they hit my nerve twice sending electric shocks down my leg which was more painful than the contractions) I didn't even try getting in the water. I HATED the hospital and the doctor went behind my back and clamped my baby girls cord (they make money off the stem cells) robbing her of HER stem cells & blood. This is very important if you give birth at the hospital. DO NOT let baby out of your sight!! Have someone you trust with you to advocate for you. Baby does not need to leave the room unless there is a true emergency. Have your person go with baby incase of that event. They can do all the routine tests (hearing, PKU) right there in the room. If you are sleeping, have the person with you awake & keeping watch. I do not vaccinate either & my baby girl never left my room. I denied Vit K, eye ointment and bath as well as the Hep B. If you sign the refusal form, put V.C. before your name which means you are signing under duress and do not agree with their statements that you are knowingly putting baby at risk. Make sure your person does not let them clamp the cord either. My husband screwed that one up. The Vit K drops are just as bad as the injection too. Same ingredients. Bring your own real Vit K drops incase of a traumatic birth if you wish. You can order them off Amazon. I did but never needed them. Delayed cord clamping let's the stem cells go in and do their healing work. All this can be avoided though if you birth with a midwife at home or a birthing home. I don’t have much of a choice where I live, we don’t have birthing centers and it is illegal to have an assisted birth at home with a midwife. We have to either do unassisted at home with the nearest trustworthy doctor/hospital two hours away or in that hospital. Because of complications with my first we chose the hospital but I am very vocal about my desires. I’m only 13 weeks and I’m sure the whole hospital is aware that we will be doing exactly as I say. Never let baby out of your room for anything. Make sure the rolling bed thing they sleep in is on the opposite side of your bed from the door if you use it while sleeping and hook one or more of your tubes to it so they can’t sneak baby out. Make everyone who walks in your door aware of your wishes, have them put it on your board, and write it on every form you sign. Also, print out your state’s laws regarding vaccines and birth procedures and have them with you. If they try to get snippy pull them out. Find out your hospitals grievance procedure and if they won’t leave you alone after asking them not to bring it up again ask for the form by name or to speak to the person in charge of grievances by name. Always be polite at first but if they push let them know that you are fully aware of your rights and willing to stand up for yourself. They will back down. Just make sure that you never yell, threaten them, or call them names. You need to be calm and collected and above reproach.

I printed out multiple copies of my birthplan and passed them out to every nurse that came in.. it basically said 
NO vaccines, (Vit k, eye ointment, Hep B)
NO circumcision
NO bathing (leave vernix on)
Delayed cord clamping as long as possible 
Baby does NOT leave the room without me or the father.
My fiancé was great in making sure they followed all these as I was sorta out of it. Your baby your choice don’t let anyone bully you into something you don’t want to do!

Do they vaccinate straight after birth where you are? In Scotland they dont until babies are 2 months and only if you consent. That must be terrifying i hope it all goes the way you wish

Definitely make a birth plan and maybe have your partner, (since you’ll be in labor), make sure the care team understands your wishes. Birthplans are not only for labour and delivery, but ALSO for what happens after. It’s for your entire hospital stay. This definitely helped us because I had a long, intense labor, and I was delirious by the time it came to the nurses taking my kid for shots and measurements. They respected my wishes on the birthplan.

My ob never even talked to me about it. I was only 18 when i had my first but i really just put my foot down and said no shots. I got some rude comments dirty looks. But no one can legally force you.
