Does saying “I’m sorry” make you feel better?

I’m the type of person where “I’m sorry” doesn’t mean anything to me. They’re just words in my opinion. 
So if your S/O were to make a decision without considering your feelings & they apologize after you tell them how you feel, would you be ok? Or would you still be upset.. even though they apologized.

Well, I don’t think that accepting someone’s apology means that your emotions automatically go away over what they did. I do think that it is important to do your best to accept someone’s apology because not doing so can be very toxic. It’s like holding a grudge, and when you hold a grudge, you get hurt most. Forgiving people is for your peace of mind, not for them to get away with what they’ve done. So it’s very important to try to cultivate the skill of forgiveness. So personally, I do my best to forgive people if they are truly sorry for what they’ve done or said. I then acknowledge my emotions and do what I need to do to cope with them and then release them so they don’t continue to harm me. With that said, it is very difficult for me to accept an apology I know that isn’t sincere. In those cases, I don’t even see it as an apology. I just see it as words that are said to appease me. If you don’t fix what you’ve done or promise not to do it again (and then actually don’t do it again), it’s just words that mean nothing. But guess what… I forgive even those who are not actually sorry because I can’t let ANYONE live inside my head like that.

They’re communicating with you by apologizing. I’m sorry I screwed up, I’m sorry I didn’t include you, I’m sorry I ate all the Ice cream. So no I wouldn’t still be mad. How else would he apologize?

I think “sorry” is just an empty word too. I do want a sorry, but I want more than that. Tell me why you are sorry, how you messed up, and what you are going to do to fix it...AND here the big one...FIX IT or don’t do it again. It makes me really mad if he says sorry and keeps doing something. It makes my blood boil when sorry is said in those situations.

They can say sorry all they want. They also need to show they're sorry. By showing regret through actions you are able to trust them not to do it again. This comes from someone who's been lied to a lot...

When he apologizes it just tells me he wants to start working through what’s going on between us. Doesn’t mean I can’t still be upset but it puts us on another lever of just being upset with each other

In depends on the person/case
There are times, for instance, that my husband truly doesnt know that something he did/said upset me. So when I explain how I feel about it, he’ll explain what he was thinking and how he didn’t mean to upset me/didnt realize what he said/did would upset me and apologize for it. 
When my husband apologizes, he means it and does what he can to avoid that mistake in the future, so I believe his apologies. They hold meaning and truth 
Now for example, if it’s someone who makes a mistake, it’s talked out and they apologize, and then turn around and make the mistake again, and this is something that happens in multiple instances repeatedly- I wouldn’t believe the apology because they’re showing that they aren’t honestly sorry and will do it again anyway
