Food/drink during inducement?

I’ll be 41 weeks on Tuesday so they’ve scheduled an inducement for then.  The doctor said to be sure to have breakfast because I probably won’t be able to eat during.  Anyone have experience with this? Don’t know if this also includes drinking... wondering if I could make some bone broth to have?

My doctor doesn’t allow you to eat or drink anything other than ice chips during labor. Doesn’t matter if you’re induced or go into labor naturally. Eating can cause issues if you have to have an emergency c section.

At my hospital we are allowed to eat and drink during labor as long as its a spontaneous labor. Being induced increases the risk of possible c-section in which case you have the possibility of aspirating on the operating table.

At my hospital, I was able to have full access to the clear liquids menu during my 42 hour labor. The vegetable broth was the best thing I had ever tasted. I could order jello, broth, popsicles, juice, clear soda, or Italian ice whenever I wanted. Surprisingly, there were periods when I was ravenous and others where I couldn’t stand the thought of food so it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

At my first hospital, my water broke late Tuesday night, got to the hospital early Wednesday morning and was induced. They fed me my last meal at supper time since nothing was going to be happening until Thursday morning. Don’t remember them cutting off water/ice chips, though. I’m assuming I have a decent risk of c-section this time around (unstable lie baby and a risk of shoulder dysplasia), I highly doubt this hospital will let me eat anything.

As other people have said you’ll be allowed ice chips and that’s it. Incase they have to perform an emergency c section they don’t was you to aspirate on anything you might have eaten.

Normally they don’t allow you to eat because of the off chance you need an emergency c-section. The IV fluids help you not be so hungry. With my daughter I was scheduled for induction on a Friday morning, went into labor on my own, labored for 24hrs when complications started to arise and had to have a c-section. Still didn’t get to eat real food after. Only apple juice, chicken broth, or ice chips. But I never felt hungry really. 🤷🏻‍♀️
