Should I ask other house members to vaccinate?

So my so & I live with his mom. I’m getting my TDAP vaccination next month and my husband is getting his before baby is here. I’ve never experienced anything like this but is it necessary to ask his mom to vaccinate as well? Im really trying to take the safest route here so any advice/ experiences are welcome :)

Any adult who lives with baby should be vaccinated (the kids, if there are any, likely don't need boosters). Obviously you cannot force another adult to do anything they don't want to but you should provide her the information and ask her to get the vaccine.

Yes, my doctor said anyone who lives in the same house should get the flu and TDap vaccines.

My husband and I both got ours. My parents and in-laws are getting theirs as well since they’ll be around when he’s small. We’ve asked anyone that will be around the baby in the first 8 weeks to get theirs. If they choose not to, they can meet him once he’s old enough to get his immunizations 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would ask her for sure it can't hurt for her to get it especially since you live together. My Dr suggested anyone around baby for the first 2 months should have there tdap and flu. Thankfully my parents who I don't live with but will becoming over alot to help out both got there flu and Tdap... My dad who hates shots gladly got the Tdap once he found out it was for whooping cough.

Please ask her. The P in TDAP stands for pertussis or “whooping cough,” which can be very harmful to little ones. Even deadly. It can’t hurt to ask. 😬

I’m pro vaccines, but I would casually bring it up and ask if they’re vaccinated. If they’re not, I’d ask how they feel about it. You’re living with them in their household; I think you should respect them and how they want to proceed. If they choose not to vaccinate, then I’d find other living arrangements.

My parents don’t live with us but we see them at least a couple times a week and I asked that they both get updated Tdap before my daughter was born. I would certainly request that if someone lived with us.

No you can't really force people to vaccine as it's their body and their health. We have some family members that can't get the vaccines due to their conditions

Definitely worth asking. Explain that it can help make sure to keep the baby safe. However you can't make her do it.
