What exactly is Hpv? Does warts on your hand mean you have it? or is it just in your genitals? Please no rude answers I searched up on the internet but I don’t get it, this was the last place to ask since people can be rude

The kind of warts you get on your hand is a different virus from the one you get on your genitals. It is in the HPV family of viruses, but it is not the same as the ones that are considered precancerous or an STD. It’s a completely different strain of the virus. It is still contagious though. These viruses usually clear up on their own after some time.

HPV mean human papillomavirus. It is on the genitals. Meaning anywhere from your vagina (or penis) to your anus. It is warts but there are different strains of HPV. There is the kind that presents warts and could eventually disappear over time and there is the strain that doesn’t present warts and could eventually lead to cervical cancer. So to answer your question, no warts on your hands, knees , etc. is not HPV.
