I can't explain it without someone probably jumping my shit but long story short, you do not have enough carbohydrates in your system for energy. So your body starts burning fat for energy vs using the gluclose from carbs for energy.  
Just make sure you're eating healthy carbs. Not cake, even though I think we all want cake lol

When i had ketones in urine wastold was due to dehydration happened few times this pregnancy and been admitted  for iv drip x

Ketones are a by product of fat breakdown. When your body doesn't have enough glucose for energy it starts to break down fat. If you haven't had anything to eat in a while it's possible to see ketones in your urine, or if you are on a low carb diet you will see ketones. Ketones can appear more concentrated if you are dehydrated as well giving a falsely elevated result. Make sure you're eating enough calories a day and drinking lots. If you have ketones in your urine as well as glucose this is a sign of impaired insulin function (gestational diabetes) where your body is using fat stores for energy because it can't break down the available glucose. Since the glucose isn't being used some of it gets passed out in your urine, along with the ketones.

The way my doctor explained it was “you have ketones in your urine so I can tell you’ve skipped quite a few meals, remember your baby needs food not to lose weight” lol

Usually dehydration, I ended up with a stomach but and my ketones were at a +4 when they should be negative. Two bags of fluid later and I was good to go. :)
