If you had too much protein in your urine - what was the reason?

I went to the doctor today and they told me I had too many proteins in my urine. I am now having to do a 24 hour urine collection to bring back on Wednesday. I am worried because my blood sugars have been pretty normal (I have gestational diabetes, but the doctor said that my numbers aren’t high enough to cause that amount of protein). He said it could also be pre-eclampsia but I haven’t had any high blood pressure. I’m scared it’s something with my kidneys. Anyone had a similar experience? I’m 33 weeks and 1 day today.

I had protein in my urine at 24 weeks, but I don't know if I had *too much*.
Doctor said it was normal in pregnancy, retested at 28 weeks and it was gone.

With my first pregnancy I had this issue around 26-30 weeks. I did the 24 hr urine and it was just a little below what they would classify as preeclampsia. But the way it works is it's usually like one or two symptoms here or there and around 35,36,37 weeks the symptoms typically worsen. Like my urine regulated but around 36 weeks my blood pressure got into the 140s and my feet started swelling so bad that there would be an indentation left after pressing on them. That's when I was induced for gestational hypertension with the possibility of it becoming preeclampsia. So your doctor may just watch your Bp more closely in the weeks to come he also may tell you to get a BP monitor for at home

I’m 33+4 and my midwife said it’s normal to have a little protein in your urine close to the end. I don’t exactly remember why though.

Pre clampsia isn’t always associated with high blood pressure

I had this about 6-8 weeks ago. My doctor has no idea what could have caused it. He has me getting weekly blood pressure checks to keep an eye on things, just to be safe for pre-eclampsia. 
He told me that there is a lot of debate about whether the high protein can lead to (be a precursor) to pre-eclampsia. So better safe than sorry.

I’m in the same situation. I was in the ER last last Friday and they told me to do a 24hr urine catch to see if I have preeclampsia. My blood pressure was super high when I went in so I may or may not have it. My appt is gonna be next week so I’ll update then prob

I have too much protein due to being dehydrated all the time. I have hypermesis. So i am always vomiting and spitting. Im 32 weeks and 5 days.
