What major events and milestones should we have photographed?

FTM here.
We had our baby boy almost a month ago.
He is our “one and done” - so I have to make it count.
I had a photo-skilled friend do a maternity photo shoot for us.
Within the 1st two weeks of my LO’s life, I quickly found 2 different people to do newborn pictures.
The monthly milestone pictures - I figure I’ll do those myself.
Just curious ...
What other major events and milestones should we have photographed?

Don’t forget to get some video.

Anything you want.  I have over 15,000 pictures since my son was born. He 17 months old.  But you could do them rolling over, seating up, first food, walking the first time, any fun new things you do.  But you don’t need a photographer for that.  You can take them.  You could get one for their first birthday.

Photograph anything that seems significant to you! I have found mini “photo shoots” to be a really fun bonding experience with my baby girl. Sometimes (especially on maternity leave!) days get pretty repetitive and snapping some quick photos is a fun way for us to be together, doing something different. Plus capturing those memories for myself and our family, and especially for her daddy, is an added benefit.
I took 7 week photos of her because that’s when she started sleeping through the night- that was significant to me!

And if you do them yourself it’s free! Then for professional pictures, once a year is plenty...

We literally take pics alll the time, any cute outfit or new thing, I love looking back and it all passes so quickly! The other posted mini shoots and I think thats a good idea, many local photographers will have various holiday minis through the yr. we take nice family pics each yr and I love looking back 🤗
My only advice is to stay organized from the start! Get a good external hard drive and organize month by month, or however but trust me its so hard to go back and try and organize! Also would not recommend backing your pics up solely on apple cloud bc they are a pain in the ass to access later. I use google photos now and a hard drive and thats what I rec 🤗

I never photographed anything o took pictures of them here and there but I put down the phone and spend time actually watching them grow up personally I don't care about pictures of mile stones I rather be there watching it than take pictures
