39+5. Can i request to be induced?

Question

Just curious.. i don’t plan on doing it but i’m just wondering.. I will be 40 weeks thursday, which will hopefully be my last doctors appointment. My doctor doesn’t normally induce but I am not really wanting to go too far over my due date because i’m miserable. At my appointment on thursday, since i will be 40 weeks, can i request to be induced? and can she tell me no? since it is my body and my child?? Like i said, i don’t plan on being induced i’m just wondering if i were to ask can she technically tell me no since i am full term?

Ya my doctor won't induce me until 41wk I really hope baby comes out before that

I know some Dr. will say no depending on how favorable the cervix is because of risk of complications but that def something to ask them :)

Doesn't hurt to ask! I think every doctor is different and it depends on your situation. My doctor won't induce until 41 weeks but I found this out by asking. Good luck!

I was so scared to ask but I did. He told me it was up to me and he would schedule it when I wanted. Ended up scheduling it that same day. I’m scheduled to be induced on my due date (it was only date open around my 40 week mark) I was shocked he was so “okay” with it!

Girl we have the same due date! I'm extremely miserable and in pain every day as well. On Friday I have my appointment and I'm going to ask what the status of me getting induced is as well! Best of luck and prayers to you
