Copper IUD?

Hello, I have been doing some research and have decided that I want to go a non hormonal route and try the copper IUD. Has anyone used this?? What do you think about it??

I currently have the copper IUD and it’s great, but I have cramps almost every day. I already had a heavy period before I got it and haven’t really noticed a change there. I’ve had it for over 3 years though and it’s really helped not worry about getting pregnant. I didn’t want anything hormonal but honestly, I’ve been trying to decide if I can deal with it for another year or two when we decide to get pregnant. My lady doctor told me that it is mainly for people who have had a baby already, which I haven’t so that’s why I cramp all the time.

I had it but removed it. I have very heavy periods without birth control. The copper IUD made my periods heavier so I switched to the mirena IUD which stopped my periods. I love not having periods. If my periods weren't already so heavy I would have stayed on the copper IUD. That was my only complaint.
