What size clothes/diapers do newborns fit in?

My daughter has been measuring big at every appointment. Her dad and i are both on the heavier side, plus I was a big baby, so I feel she may not be the size of an average newborn, or if she is, I don’t think she‘ll stay that way very long. How much newborn clothes/diapers should we buy? My aunt says to only buy a few packs of newborn diapers and then start buying the next size up. Should we buy very few newborn items and then get bigger sizes for everything else? I’m extremely confused and worried we will buy too much of something that won’t fit her.

This time around I’ll go 0-3 rather then newborn as he barely wore any of them and slightly big is fine :) they grow fast!! (Son was 7lbs 8oz) measuring big but came  two weeks early 🙈

My daughter never fit newborn size clothes, she was straight into 0-3 months. She fit newborn nappies for maybe two months? She was 9lb 9 and 57cms (I think that’s 22ish inches). I would definitely recommend not buying too much newborn sized stuff just in case and take size up to hospital.

Keep tags on everything. My son was 6 pounds 6 ounces and is in newborn clothing and diapers. The box for size 1 says starting at 8 pounds for diapers.

My daughter was 9lbs12oz and didn’t got into NB anything. We started at the next size up.

I would buy a variation of NB and 0/3mo clothes, but leave the tags on everything unless you’re like me and have to wash and dry everything before baby gets here. Then, I would only wash a couple of the less expensive outfits. 
As far as diapers go if you buy any I would buy size 1s for right now, because your hospital should supply you with NB diapers up until you leave and by that time you’ll know what she fits in and can make the decision on which size you need to buy. (I’m sorry if that sounds jumbled up and crazy. I’m not very good at explaining things)
My son was 8lb 1 3/4oz and he fit into NB clothes and diapers for about a month.

My son was 6 lbs 11 oz and 20” long and in NB diapers and clothes for 2 months! Then he went to size 1 diapers and 0-3/3 month clothes until 7 months now he’s 8 months in size 2 diapers and 3 month and 3-6 month clothes . Everyone told me to not get any little clothes because they’ll grow right out of them! And I didn’t even have enough I had to constantly buy more

My daughter was born at 7lbs 8oz and at two months is still in newborn diapers and clothes. She’s a really slow grower 🤷🏼‍♀️ but we were told typically they grow out of that stuff pretty fast

My daughter was 7lbs 9oz and fit into NB diapers for about a month and a half and was in preemie clothing for the first week. NB size for about a month.

I brought a newborn, 0-3, and a 3-6 month just in case. My baby was expected to be 9 lbs, and was only 7 lbs 11 oz. She fit into size 1 diapers and newborn clothes for about six weeks.
