Accidentally ate raw fish sushi

I’m 25 weeks weeks pregnant and ate a rainbow roll not thinking it was that bad until my cousin pointed it out pregnant women can not eat sushi (pregnancy brain made me forget about that.) is it ok? I only had one and didn’t eat the whole thing.

You’ll be ok. The reason they say not to is a higher chance of some type of food-borne illness like food poisoning. Obviously don’t make a habit of it, but if you were eating from a clean, reputable place then it’s more than likely fine.

So I did some research on this a few weeks ago because I was craving a salmon roll so bad. Agree with everyone here who is saying it’s safe. I think the American board of OBs tends to be a little overly cautious. So long as the place is reputable, and the fish has been previously frozen (true for most reputable places anyway) it’s really ok. In fact, Japanese women do not stop eating sushi while pregnant; it’s even recommenced that they continue to eat it as part of a nutritious diet. And not for nothing, they’re pretty healthy over there on the Eastern side of the world. I say go for it, in moderation, just like aaaaaanything else.

You’re fine, the risk is for listeria or salmonella. I have been eating sushi from reputable (ie not 7/11) places and I’m completely not concerned. The same concern is in place for raw vegetables, especially bc of the recent salmonella issues in California.

You’re fine eating it occasionally ... risk increases if your eating tons of it and even then it’s just a risk factor not definitive

Well, not much to do about it now. Most fish used for sushi has been frozen, which makes it okay.If it hasn't been frozen it can contain a parasitic worm. But not sure what the odds are 🤷🏻‍♀️.. I just think it's one of those things were it's better safe than sorry and in most cases nothing happens 😊
