A ball of ingrown hair on pubic area 😷

Okay so i had a small pimple looking thing around the top of my pubic area and I may regret it but i took some sterilized scissors and made a small cut because I couldn’t remove the hair with my tweezers... I was fucking horrified to find a ball of hair in that cyst/pimple. There was no pus just blood.. it didn’t hurt and it still doesn’t hurt after i removed the ball of hair but it was really hard to pull it out of its “sac”. idk what it is and there are like two other spots on my pubic area that look the same.

1. I haven’t shaved in over a year i trim very short since i have curly hair down there

2. I exfoliate once a day to try and reduce pimples and ingrown hairs

Can someone tell me how i can prevent this from happening or what even was that pimple because I’ve never seen anything like that. And I also made sure to clean up the “wound” with tea tree oil and watered down rubbing alcohol and covered it with a bit of gauze .
