Teeth advice

So at my cats last vet appointment the vet mentioned that she will have teeth issues in the future. No elaboration. Well it's only been a few months and my cat lost a canine and has very bad breath. She's only about 5 ( she's a rescue so I don't know her exact age). Any thing I can do to help her? I don't want her to be toothless at such a young age.
