How routine is it to happen at a hospital vs pediatrician?

We decided to leave our son intact (🙌🏽💙) but when we were researching circumcision, we’d originally scheduled an appointment with a urologist to do it because our hospitals don’t use adequate pain relief, just sugar water (shown only to limit facial movements - pain receptors show they still feel every slice) and that was horrifying to us.
The urologist does use pain relief and was going to allow us to be there with him through the procedure, as well as allowing us to choose which method of cutting we preferred. 
While I’d ultimately suggest NOT circumcising at all, if you do choose to do it, definitely make sure they use numbing and pain relief and find out which method they use (Gomco vs Plastibell, high vs low, etc) and their revision rate (a friend of mine had to have her son circumcised 3x before his first birthday and now has permanent damage because she didn’t realize their hospitals revision rate was over 50% and they butchered him 😭).

Our baby will be circumcised at home, by a mohel who is also a Rabbi. He will be 8 days old.

It’s three times more expensive to have it done at the hospital so we’re waiting and having it done by our pediatrician at his two week appointment.

Our hospital does it there the next day. They did recommend calling our insurance to make sure it’s covered there. Sometimes I guess people’s insurance will only cover it at their pediatrician 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ours covers it at the hospital with no problem. I guess another thing is that some pediatricians prefer to do it themselves. I’m not sure why though.

I’m not sure how routine it is, but my midwife did say if we wanted to circumcise that we had the option of doing it at the hospital the day after he’s born, or as an outpatient procedure two weeks or so later.  So I don’t think it’s completely non-routine to wait.
