Your experience with IUD?

I’ve been thinking about getting an IUD for a few months now. I’m on the pill and long story short I just don’t like to the point where I don’t want to take it anymore. I even talked to my gyn about the IUD and she said it would be fine for me...but it would hurt. Her exact words were: “you might scream.” Yikes! I told her I’d think about it, but it’s been a few months now. I’ve done a ton of research on them but I’m just worried about the pain. I have no idea what it would feel like, especially because I heard it could hurt more if you’ve never had a baby?? 
If you have an iud, could you tell me about your honest experience with it, if it hurt and what it felt like? Thanks ladies!!!!

I have mirena. I've never had kids. The insertion was just intense cramps. And only for a few mins. I went to work the same day. I had 2 weeks of really intense cramps but then they went away. My periods stopped after month 4. I'm on month 6. We dont feel it during sex. I do my monthly string checks. I really like it. No pharmacy, no daily pill. Medications dont interact with it at all. I dont have to worry about taking a pill pack with me anywhere if I go out or on vacation. We dont use condoms or pull out and I havent gotten pregnant.

I've had the Kyleena for 8 months and it was definitely worth the pain. The OBGYN actually had a bit of trouble inserting it and called in another doctor to help and the pain was pretty intense but not unbearable. I had bad cramps for the next 12 or so hours and spotted intermittently for 3 months. After that my cycle went back to a normal 28 days with lighter than usual bleeding and my period cramps are completely gone. I used to take tons of pain pills for my cramps but now I don't even bother with pills or tampons because my flow is so light. Overall, the insertion sucked bug the benefits are worth it.

Im getting my mirena iud removed on the 26th because I've been bleeding for 3 1/2 months nonstop and it makes me feel drained of energy. I'm going on the pill after I get it removed. I rather take the pill than have a period for 3 1/2 months straight. And in the first month that I had it, it was making me feel depressed. 
(Those are symptoms of the mirena iud because its hormonal)

For me it was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. And the cramping after was awful. However, mine lasts 7 years. So the temporary pain is worth it.

I got my iud inserted a year ago and you just have to relax to avoid pain during the procedure. Afterward i had very sharp pains so its going to hurt. I had intense sharp pains here and there for about a month but in the long run its the best. 
Just take ibuprofen i never get my period and cramping and pain went away after 3 month. Honestly doesnt hurt that bad

The pain is just 2 deep cramps but honestly it’s worth it! You have to just get used to it after, physically and mentally. I’m still working on remembering how effective it is because it feels like you’re using no protection lol. It honestly doesn’t matter if you’ve had a baby or not. I have kyleena, it’s small and one of the lower hormones. No babies and I’m 19, so yeah. Maybe you’ll have some cramping off and on for a few weeks and spotting, but it’s honestly worth it in the long run. And I also think it’s weird that your gyn said “you will scream” haha they should encourage safe birth control and not put fear into you!

The day I got the mirena put in it was so painful that when I came out to the car my husband asked if I had gotten raped in the dr office. I truly felt traumatized. After 2 weeks of immense pain I called the dr and said I wanted to switch back to the arm implant but I had to wait 4 weeks to get it done. I agreed. Suffered the same amount of pain up to the day. Getting it out was just as painful. I don't know if it was from having a cyst surgically removed 6 months prior or what but it was a no go for me. I hear people who love it but personally I hated it. I have had a child so it wasn't like it had never been stretched either. Remember you have all sorts of long term options but if this is the one you want then just go for it and take the leap. Easier to just get it done then procrastinate lol.
