What does sleeping “through the night” mean?

Question

How do you (or your doctor) define sleeping “through the night”? How many hours of what time frame?
Also, how old is your little one and how long is he/she sleeping at night? Pure curiosity here.

Mine sleeps if I’m lucky 5 hours straight. Usually only 3-4. Sometimes she eats then goes right back to sleep. Sometimes she’s up for 2 hours in the middle of the night. My first didn’t go a full 8 hours until about 14 months so that’s what I’m expecting again. Both were/are breastfed. 
Just wanted to comment since everyone else seems to be having much longer stretches of sleep. It’s not pleasant living in such little sleep and can be depressing seeing so many people say their LOs sleep so long. So don’t feel alone if your LO doesn’t sleep well! They are all different!

Since 7 weeks he’s been sleeping 6 hours for one stretch, eats, and is right back down. 10 weeks he started 7.5-9 hours and now at 12 weeks he sleeps 12 straight hours without getting up.

8:30/9 pm until 6:30/7 am almost every night. It’s been even more consistent now that I’m being extra diligent about naps. He doesn’t wake up to dream feed. I feed him at 7 am from one side, change him, feed from the other side and he goes back to sleep for 1.5-2 hours. He’s 13 weeks.

My little one is 3 months old, since she turned 8 weeks old she’s been sleeping from 10pm-10am with 1-2 dreamfeeds in between. We co-sleep so she dreamfeeds and has been sleeping 11-12 hour stretches in the night. I consider that sleeping through the night! 🥳

My 3 month old has started sleeping from 9:30 or 10 pm until 8:30 am. Sometimes he wakes up at 5 am for a bottle, and sometimes he doesn’t. Since I usually get up at 5:30 for work, I consider this sleeping through the night.

My three and a half month old does not sleep through the night yet. We are up every 2.5 hours still. But she eats every 3-4 hours. So I just put lullabies back on for the half hour stretch to feeding time. She doesn’t wake up crying. Just babbles to herself.

My Doctor considers a 6hr stretch of sleep ‘sleeping through the night’ My daughter is 15weeks and will sleep 9pm-5:30am, eat and go back down for 2ish hours till about 8-8:30am

My little guy is 15 weeks. Born sept 10 (but he was 4 weeks early) he started sleeping 7-8 hr stretches at about 9 weeks. Last night (and most nights now) he slept 10 hours straight. He woke up at 7 and he’s back to sleep now. Typically he will sleep another 3 hours after his 7am feeding. He doesn’t sleep alot during the day though. He just cat naps for 30-45 minutes here or there.
