What is an IUD insertions at PP like?

Made my appointment today for this week and I’m super nervous. Do they make you take a pregnancy text beforehand? And overall what’s the experience like? I just need to reassure myself because I want an iud but I’m just super scared.

Don’t be nervous, girl! It will be SO worth anything you go through. I haven’t had a period in three years thanks to my Mirena! I don’t even own tampons anymore.
There WILL be pain after. Probably intense pain. I suggest taking painkillers right before you go in, just to help with the pain beforehand.

I Did my Paraguard at pp. Yes, you do a per pregnancy test first. They were really, really great. They showed me what all the tools looked like and told me what they were for. The showed me the IUD. They went through the list of warnings and made sure I understood. When they were inserting it, they warned me about each part that was coming next and said if it would hurt or feel weird. It was a bit painful and I cramped and spotted afterwards, but it was as good an experience as you can have getting one.

Make sure you bring a friend or loved one! I went alone when I was 16 and it was the worst experience getting it inserted without anyone knowing why you were hunched over in pain at home and classes the following weeks. I absolutely love the IUD though and don’t regret getting it.

I got my paraguard inserted about 10 weeks postpartum tha insertion wasnt that bad my doctor had me cough when he inserted it and it surprisingly took away a lot of the pain. I had cramping and spotting afterwards but not that bad
