IUD strings hanging out! PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey ladies. So I got my IUD (skyla) inserted 11/30/18. I just now noticed that my strings are hanging about an inch and a half out of my vagina which is very concerning. Surely that is not normal. I’m thinking that maybe it is falling out? I’ve read up on it and a lot of people are saying go to the OBGYN immediately and some are just saying it is not a movement in the IUD, but rather a movement in your cervix. They definitely haven’t been like that and it must have just happened a few hours ago. I have been noticing a heavy, unusual amount of discharge as well for the past few days and I’m nowhere near my period. Not sure if the IUD caused that or not. I go for a follow up 01/11/18. Anyways, should I wait a few days and mention it at the follow up if the strings miraculously go back to normal or go in the morning? I messaged a friend with the Mirena IUD and she said that it is falling out so I need to go ASAP. She also tried to tell me I should pull it out and I’m not so sure that is a great idea. Anyone else experienced this? Advice please!!
