Cramps

I have had cramps for about 3 weeks now. I am currently 18 weeks. My obgyn said they were normal as long as I am not having discharge. However they are consistent and are painful. Family kept asking me at Christmas why I kept holding my tummy all day. They all seemed concerned it wasn't normal. Do any of you get cramps?
