Same, I bought a standard body pillow from Walmart and the pillow plus two interchangeable cases cost me about $15. That was all I needed my first pregnancy and it's done me fine this time too, I'm 24 weeks with #2. Plus it doesn't take up too much space in the bed like a U-shaped would!

Yes I've tried just a regular pillow between my legs but my lower back still hurts when I get up. I think I'll try just a regular body pillow since I don't want anything taking up a lot of room. Thanks for the suggestion!

Forgot to say that I developed sciatic pain late 2nd trimester with my first. The key for me was just having something between my knees and ankles, so if you have extra regular size pillows laying around you could even try that first!
I got the Boppy Side Sleeper pillow. It takes up less space in the bed so my husband still fits 😊, and it supports my back and belly. Then I use a regular pillow between my knees.

I love this pillow. I use this and my c-shaped pregnancy pillow by “pharmedoc” on amazon. My husband just had to deal with the lack of space 😂
