How is everyone paying for ivf ? Its so expensive but I see there are grants?

My parents paid for us. We were incredibly fortunate that they offered.

Out of pocket. And we were able to claim it on our taxes. We got some of it back.

My insurance paid for the majority of our treatment and we paid whatever insurance didn’t cover.

Out of pocket. We ordered our meds from an overseas pharmacy, Fast Ivf. The price difference was huge, for example $20 v $85 for a vial of menopur.

100% paid out of pocket. Stopped spending on lots of things, used savings, stopped 401k payments, no new clothes, less eating out etc.... read blogs on extreme savers and it gives tips how you can squeeze money from your salary no matter the size. We didn’t use credit cards for this, but many options there for 12 month interest free...just make sure you pay it off before the interest hits or can switch to a new credit card that is interest free. I did that for years after graduating to manage student bills.

We used access fertility then paid for drugs with a credit card which we pay off on a monthly basis. It's really hard and no one gets it my family annoyed me this Christmas demanding money for presents when we can't afford it and to be honest when they are better off than us why should I have too given the £££ they don't really need it. Sorry needed a rant! I find it hard handing money over to people when husband and I didn't even get one another anything for 2 years running, birthdays alike. But we got our bfp just before Christmas on our 3rd round, so that's what is important if I can hold onto the baby. Good t x

Depending on where you are some insurances will cover it. There are I believe 15 states that have mandatory help with Fertility assistance. Luckily I'm in one of those states and have an insurance that covers all but like 2 tests! We have had all of our testing done as of yesterday and only have to pay for genetic testing. We are starting our medications and retrieval process in March because we are taking a cruise this month!
