Help !?

My 6 year old is one of the most ungrateful children I’ve ever met. I bought her a tablet for Christmas along with a few other items & she threw a fit that she didn’t have as many presents as her one year old sister. (Keep in mind, I got her sister a couple of baby dolls and a few 6-18m toys that were less than 8$ each.) Then she saw her birthday present. (Her birthday is in three weeks) She threw a huge fit because it’s only 2 toys. (I got her exactly what she asked for.) She screamed “only two presents?! I want more than two!” out in public. I was so embarrassed. She also threw a fit coz her tablet wasn’t a Kindle Fire like her 4 year old sisters was. I got the kids fire tablet for 49$. Her tablet costed me 129$. I guess my point is, how do I deal with her being this way? I give her more than my parents ever got me. I pay all my bills too. I’m just looking for advice on how anyone deals with this narcissistic behavior with their kids? (I’m not looking for criticism for buying a tablet for Christmas. It’s a Leap Tablet Elite.)

Take it all away! When she is ungrateful, take back the stuff. Explain that since she cant appreciate what she is given she clearly doesn't want it. Don't give it back until the behavior changes. Keep taking things until she has little more than a bed and a dresser. The way to unspoiled a kid is to show them how lucky they are to have the things they are given, simply by showing them what it's like not to have them.

Make her collect toys from her room and take her to a homeless shelter to donate them. Have her meet children that have nothing .

Yeah, she wouldn’t get anything from me. It might help to explain to her (it might take about ten hundred repeats of the same explanation) that when we receive a gift, this is what we say/do; and also, we aren’t entitled to gifts; and also,  what the holiday/birthday is really about and what to expect and the meaning of it... She is young, but sounds like she is struggling. She may be associating gifts with these events rather than sentimental meaning.

I’m not going to criticize lol I bought my 7 year old an iPhone! Anyway, I would tell her if she’s not happy with what she gets then she gets nothing! But you have to follow through and do it. Take it away if she’s ungrateful. Tell her that she is acting selfish and ungrateful. Show her kids who don’t get anything for Christmas.

Oh I didn’t think about gradually taking away. I do ground her from it for a day at a time. I have threatened to return the tablet though. I’m still within the 15 day window. 🤔 I feel so bad I have a narcissistic child. Idk where I went wrong. 😔 I’m not that way & neither is her dad. My 4yo is a holy terror but it’s so much easier to deal with than the ungrateful behavior.

🤦🏻‍♀️ you're giving your 6-year-old a tablet and wondering why she's ungrateful? Maybe stop giving her items children shouldn't have in the first place. And if she's going to be a brat, then take it away. Simple as that. This shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp. It's pretty basic. YOU are the reason your child is ungrateful. Rather than giving her all this crap she doesn't need, teach her how to give back to others in your community. Donate clothes or her toys to needy children. Teach her to care about someone other than herself. YOU are the parent. If you don't want your child to be ungrateful then stop raising her that way. Take responsibility for your parenting.
