My Husbands whole family can’t stand me because I’ve helped my husband do things, that they said he would never do. 
 
For example: 
At 17 They told him he was too stupid to pass his driving test, so we studied and he passed it on his first try. 
They say I brainwashed him into to marrying me, yet him mom helped him pick out a ring before HE proposed to ME. 
But I didn’t let them stop me. We have been married 5 years, and I rarely ever see his family.. 
We have a daughter that they don’t even ask about. Not a birthday wish, or a single Christmas present, but that’s ok. 🤷🏼‍♀️
We are happy with our little family and that’s all that matters. ❤️

My mother in law hated me , came to our wedding and when she pulled up outside text my husband and told him he could leave right now if he wanted to.. she died 10 days after our wedding and we have been married 4 years

I know family is important but if your mother or their mother can’t be happy for you, then they aren’t meant to be in your life. (That is if they don’t see something actually wrong with your spouse like they are abusive or something.) 
However family can be just as toxic if not more than the rest of the world because they share your blood. I also strongly believe that family especially parents should not be heavily involved in your marriage as it’s a. Weird and gross and b. Not appropriate. It doesn’t give you the space and learning you need and it’s unhealthy that have a relationship like that with your parents. One where they are too involved in your life. 
We currently live with my husbands mom and step dad (we are buying their house this spring and are saving up while they still live here.) and it’s so awkward sometimes because when we have sex, we try to be quiet. One night she came up to me after I went to the bathroom after and gave me tips and tricks on how to get pregnant. Basically “here’s how to fuck my son” it was so awkward and I had to stand there and act like I didn’t wanna puke.  So yea lol parents are important but no everyone’s parents need to be that close to them.
