How bad is an HPV diagnosis?

I just received news I've tested positive for HPV.
I'm freaking out. Scared. Embarrassed. You name it.
My next appointment, the doctor is going to check for lesions, but that won't be til the end of January.
Naturally I'm worried.
I've done some research, found most people have warts? I honestly don't have any.
I'm also pregnant so I'm in shambles.
All I keep seeing is negative results.
Anyone have personal experience here? Is there any chance of comfort being shared? Or am I doomed and furthermore, worthless?

Ok so I got a positive result for high risk hpv and freaked out, in one year I got retested and it was negative! According to herbalist Susan weed hpv is the common cold of stds and most people just get rid of it. I would not worry about it even though it’s hard during pregnancy I know. Echinachea augustifolia root topically can cause cervical dysplasia is you get a wierd Pap smear. Good luck and congrats!

In many cases hpv clears up on its own with no other symptoms. Your doctor will be able tovtell you more at your appointment. No need to fret. They will take care of you.

HPV really isn't a big deal unless you have one of the few cancerous strains. Some 80% of people have it, and it's asymptomatic and nonthreatening. It's typically not something they even worry about during pregnancy, even if you do have a strain that causes warts. The wart strain is just one of like a hundred, and pregnancy can make the symptoms pronounced, but the doctor will likely just remove them or wait for them to go away. If you have any symptoms at the time of delivery, they might do a csection, but you really shouldn't panic over a basic diagnosis. HPV often goes away on its own in a few years, but can also lie dormant that entire time or most of the time. It tends to show up when your immune system is compromised, during sickness.

I was diagnosed in 2009 when I was pregnant with my first child. I had so many colposcopies done and repeat paps. Mine eventually progressed to precancerous in less then 3 months in 2015. I had the leep procedure in June 2015 and have been clear ever since. Follow all doctor recommendations and tests. Not everybody clears it, not everyone’s progresses. It did not affect my pregnancy or birth or child in any way. I was monitored frequently.

It’s really nothing to worry about until you find out it if may be one of the few strands that MAY lead to cervical cancer. Over 90% of the population of sexually active adults have one strand of it it. Sometimes it can lay dormant in you body for years and then one day you test comes up positive for it. Once that happens they will just retest again. For most... your body fights it, you will always be a carrier but it’s really nothing. It’s so wide spread bc there isn’t a reliable way to test for it in men.  Chances are it will go away on it’s own.

Breathe, it's going to be alright as long as you take care of yourself. My mom got it from my dad at 16. She's now 38 and hasn't had it pop up in any of her yearly paps since she was 23-24. My MIL had a spot pop up on her cervix this past year that's going to be removed, but she also is a heavy heavy drinker/smoker who throws her health out of the window unfortunately. There are strains that cause warts to come and go, those haven't been commonly found to cause cancer of the cervix. There are strains that are low risk that go dormant over time, not causing issues. Then there are the high risk strains that need to be monitored but even those can go dormant. Your test will tell you which strain you have. Take care of yourself and you'll be just fine girly 😊

I don’t have personal experience, but I read that a lot of sexually active adults have it & it’s more rare not to have it.

i was diagnosed in August of this year. I was a wreck lol. but my parents didn’t vaccinate me for it. what my doctor told me is i have HPV on the extreme side which is NO warts but on the cervical cancer side so my check up is actually in two weeks to get more work done. what i understood is that most people have it without even knowing and your body CAN flush it out itself and there IS hpv that causes warts and is not in the “cancer” side.

I was diagnosed in May with HPV (the type that can cause cervical cancer) and everything is actually fine. HPV can actually clear from your system on its own after some time for some/most. I had an abnormal pap and was called back for a biopsy on my cervix just to check the status of he abnormal cells. They were low grade and caught in time. I go back for a check up and follow up pap in about a week. Stay positive and don’t worry yourself so much. HPV is something that a WHOPPING 98% of sexually actively people have or have had at some point in their lives. It can lay dormant for years in your system and flare up out of nowhere. Most people never even know hey have it. Keep your head up ❤️ it can be treated if necessary.
