I’m not really sure if this belongs here but I’ve been kinda confused about this for 4 years now.

I hosted a Chinese exchange student my freshmen year for thanksgiving. To express gratitude, she gifted me a dress. The style of the dress seems cultural, and I’ve been afraid to wear it. I know that I’d be weirded out if I saw her in traditional African cloth, but I would never buy those for her either. I don’t want to waste the dress, but I’m also not sure about wearing it. Was planning on wearing it for New Years. I’ll edit with a picture.

My question:

Is it okay for me, a black girl, to wear a Chinese dress? Or should it just be a gift that I keep around?
