So my manager just offered me a good opportunity at work. I work in retail and I really enjoy it. My manager asked me if I wanted to be in charge of marketing (basically making sure all the correct sales sign are put up in a timely manner). Here’s the problem I would essentially be replacing a coworker who has become a good friend. They wouldn’t be moving her to a different position, they would just be taking that responsibility from her. I want to take it because that means there can be a chance of me moving more up in the company (hopefully to manager), but I don’t want this to affect my friendship. What should I do?
