I want to get tested. My dad had herpes and I want to know if I have it and it could be genetic. I just don't know how to approach my parents

you can get examined down there by a gynecologist , and if you want other std screenings you can also get urine and blood tested , but just know std is not genetic .

I dont know about fathers but it is possible to pass it on to a baby from the mother if she had an outbreak at the time of birth.  So I would ask your mom if she has it and if so I would definetely check.
