Medicaid for baby??

Question

How did you go about getting your little one a pediatrician? Did you have to apply for them or were they automatically covered? I’ve been on the line waiting for over an hour and was seeing if this was a faster answer to my question.

I was told until you have their social security number you can't apply for them. I think there is a grace period after birth where they are still under you. And if they aren't once they do get Medicaid, back bills of three months are covered.

I was on Medicaid for my pregnancy
They told me that my daughter was covered under my insurance until she got a social security number ( so go ahead and make bubs appointment using your name ) and then the state automatically put her on her own Medicaid when she was 6 weeks.
I'm also Ohio. Cleveland to be exact and delivered at Fairview ( Cleveland clinic) they helped me understand a lot after birth because they will not discharge you until you have a pediatrician and her first check up scheduled.

I’m in Ohio as well. I already had medicaid so when my son was born I just had to call and tell them that he was born and they gave me a temporary number to use until his insurance kicks in.
