Can I mix 5 oz of breast milk with 2 oz of liquid formula? Please help.

I’m a FTM, and I haven’t been producing as much milk as I used to. 
Is this also called supplementing? If not how do I supplement? And what is supplementing?

Yes, you definitely can mix it. If you're pumping I would mix but if you're breast feeding offer the breast first then after the baby has emptied your breasts offer the formula.

I’ve been told my my Lactation consultants that you can mix them. It doesn’t matter if there is more breast milk or more formula. I’m just careful to make sure my baby finishes any bottle that has my breast milk in it because my supply is so low and those drops are precious. So I’m saying make sure the bottle portion isn’t too big so no breast milk gets wasted/tossed if they don’t finish it. You can always make more formula.

I was told by the Dr do not mix since the formula will break down what's good in the breast milk. Not sure how right that is but that's what they said. 
How I supplement is I provide the daycare with 3 5oz bottles of breast milk then they give him 1 or two bottles of formula.

When I pumped I supplemented with formula so when I didn’t have enough breast milk I gave him formula. I wouldn’t mix the two and I’m not sure if you can. If your baby doesn’t finish breast milk you can refrigerate it and heat it back up, but once you refrigerate and heat up formula it has to be used in an hour and after that thrown out.
