Getting toddler to sleep in their own bed?

Question

My son turned 2 in August and we are trying to get him in his own bed before his baby sister arrives in May. It has been pretty traumatic so far. Any tips on how to make things a little less painful for him?

We do story time (like 5 books) followed by positive affirmations when I tell him how much I love him, all the other people who love him, repeat everything positive that happened during our day and all the wonderful things we look forward to the next day. We snuggle during that time and he usually says “more please?” and asks me to tell him more about his family that loves him. He rests well after this, we also have a music AND white noise machine.

My husband and I are getting ready to try this in a few days. At this point, our 2 year old lays in bed with us until he falls asleep. I then move him to his pack n play in our room. We are expecting our second son in a month and I KNOW I can't have both in the room with us and I want to make the transition sooner than later. All that to say, I don't have any advice, but I plan on using the Supernannys method. Look up her episodes on YouTube. I'll try to remember to check back in with an update...
