What am I supposed to reply?

Ok, so obviously I think my kid is the best, most beautiful, smartest, etc. I recognize that doesn't mean everyone else thinks that.
But loads of people say things like, "He is so smart!" or "He speaks so well!"
What am I supposed to reply? If I say thanks I feel like I'm taking credit where it's not really due.
What do you all do? What would you do?

I say, 'thanks! Too smart for her own good, if you ask me!"

We get that a lot too. I think it’s just generic you have a kid small talk. Same as “they’re getting so big!” I just agree.

I usually respond with something cute like "and he knows it too".

Just say thanks and make a comment about how your child is growing up so fast!
Accepting a compliment is a skill everyone should learn!

I usually say things like: I know or you have no idea! Something that confirms it.
