My man is too gentle

So I've been dating this guy for a while now and we've had sex. He is very gentle and makes sure that I'm okay and is very sweet and kind through everything (bc he is BIG and that's just how he is). I love that he is that way but sometimes I really just want to be pounded and roughed around. When I try to talk to him about sexual things he seems standoffish and it seems like he doesn't want to talk about that kind of stuff. So how do I go about talking to him about how I really want it rough?
