The answer to my problem and maybe yours too

I’ll try keep this as short as possible, bear with me

So I recently thought I may have been pregnant as I was experiencing a lot of general symptoms and missed my period which is odd for me as my cycles are so perfectly regular, however hpt’s were coming back negative. I always thought “maybe I need to wait a couple days” did that, still negative. So I went to my dr and she did a blood test for beta hcg and a general check of my hormone levels. Turns out I wasn’t pregnant at all, but I was quite low in cortisol due to long term crippling stress I had experienced with my business (I am self employed)

If not picked up soon enough low cortisol levels can apparently be quite harmful to your health. Funnily enough, the symptoms of low cortisol can include nausea, dizziness, emotional hypersensitivity, fatigue, headaches, back pain, abdominal pain, food cravings, low bladder capacity swollen/tender breasts and lastly an absence of your period.

The point of this post is to remind us all to trust our gut. I knew in the back of my mind that something was wrong I just didn’t know enough about the role of hormones to notice that it was in-fact, not a pregnancy. Plus I was so desperate for it to be a positive that a lot of it was denial.

I don’t expect everyone to rush off and test their hormones now, I’m just hoping that I can say to anyone who is in limbo with their bodies, not understanding what might be going on; make that appointment. It’s never too early - don’t wait if you’ve missed your period and that test comes back negative. Seek that second opinion. Look after yourself.

Oh and baby dust to everyone 💕👶✨
