Cramps Towards The End of Your Period

Has anyone ever experienced cramps towards the end of their period? What do the doctors say for you? I am on day 4 out 5 on my period and I had these AWFUL cramps. I had to leave work early and go to the hospital. The doctors said it was normal. However that was def not normal for me. Especially since I’ve rarely get cramps. Asking for a friend ..
