With this information, how do you think we should combat bullying?

Though this is an older article, I still found its contents to be quite interesting.

The original author did offer some ideas for how to stop bullying with this mindset, but I chose not to include it because I wanted to hear your ideas. 
* Also, if you don't agree with the original article or the author, that's fine. But for the question's sake, let's take the article as true. I am really curious to see what everyone has to say about this.

Assuming this is true, I would say we need to have options for kids to channel their aggression where they are recognized for their abilities. So don’t give every kid a trophy. Give the winner a trophy, that way his or her dominance is established through recognition and they don’t have to direct it at other kids. Recognize a kid for getting the good grade publicly. Parents need to parent better. They need to teach their children empathy and how to be a leader without tearing others down.

This is very interesting, and I agree with it. I’m not really sure on how we could use this information to stop or prevent bullying. We would need to take away some of their power but how would we do that? I guess one way would be splitting up their friendship group, as bullies usually love to bully in front of the crowd that will encourage them and reward them. Maybe put something in place so that groups of bullies were banned from being with each other during school time. This was actually done in my high school but wasn’t reinforced very well, if it was I think it may have worked. Also can we get rid of teachers who bully already 🙄 there were teachers back at school who would pick on the same kids that the bullies targeted, therefore encouraging them to bully them even more because they could get away with it in that class.

Maybe they are healthier, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are happier. Maybe the same low level of empathy and emotional intelligence that allow them to bully without being riddled with guilt is what allows them to feel lower stress and anxiety, leading to less inflammation. Illnesses are often rooted on emotional issues after all and if you are not bothered by emotions you may be healthier. But is your life as rich as that of a person with a deeper emotional experience and a larger capacity for empathy? As for what to do about it.. parents should be taught the importance of teaching their children empathy. Schools should be better equipped to recognise and deal with bullying.

I believe humans are taught to want power, so gaining power is rewarding.  Through power humans believe they are “better” than another, so self esteem raises.  I believe we’re taught power comes through dominating and violence.  I believe the antidote is teaching children self love, self compassion and self kindness.
