Shorter periods

Just wondering if anyone has any insight to this. I plan to go see a doctor in the near future. This is just some real woman insight and real life experience question and answer stuff.

Before getting pregnant in 2015, my periods were really heavy, I'd get really crampy, my belly felt terrible the first 2-3 days, and I'd feel really weak and drawn in. My periods would last about 5 days but the last two days were much lighter than the first few days. *the first day of my period, my stomach would feel like death the minute I woke up, and I would get my period along with my first pee of the morning - this happened religiously every single cycle for about 10 years.

Now 3 years later - I had my first (and only) baby in August 2016, and my periods started back right about 8 weeks postpartum. They have since gotten MUCH lighter and shorter. I can't feel them coming, I don't get cramps, my stomach feels fine for the most part, I don't have the period poos anymore, and they only last 2-3 days.

CURRENTLY- I started my period yesterday. I went through two half filled pads, and one tampon. I woke up this morning and my period has tapered off already, to the point of .... well it's almost noon and I probably could have gotten away with using just a regular panty liner this morning. My stomach feels fine, no cramps, no belly ache, nothing!

My husband and I had been TTC for the last 8 months (but a few days ago we decided to give it a break until after summer so I could ride my horse this summer). Does anyone have experience with super short light periods and not being able to conceive? Is there a reason why periods would get really light and short like this after having a baby? Any medical conditions I could research that might be related??

Thanks for reading my long post. This has been ongoing the last few years and my mom keeps telling me not to worry about it but when I finally told her we've been TTC the last 8 months with no luck, on top of the much lighter period thing, she's saying it could be a thyroid issue but I'm not aware of any thyroid issue and no other symptoms 🤔
