Which form of birth control do you recommend, and why?

I want to have sex with my boyfriend but want to get on birth control first. These are the kinds I’m considering Please explain why you do/don’t like specific kinds. Also note: I have heavy and painful periods.

I love the IUD. I got my first at 17 and removed at 22 when we started TTC. It completely stopped my period (mirena)

I’m not good at taking my other meds on time, which is why I’m not really considering the pill.

IUD is the way to go ! I didn’t have a period for almost 4 years ! The shot makes you fat 😭 I gained 30 lbs in almost 3 months from the shot. It was horrible ! The pill made my depression worse than ever ! Being a woman is tough 🤣

Do you have kids? Most docs wont do an IUD unless you have at least 1. Or at least that's how it used to be. I always like the pill best. I like to be in control of my bc

BC, depending on your insurance, can be given to you for free and it’s super easy to use. However if you think you might forget to take one one day, you can immediately get pregnant.i would recommend you put on a timer on your phone so you remember to take it

I preferred the birth control pill. A pain to take every day but it fixed my heavy painful periods, protected me and can be stopped any day if needed

I love my Mirena. No condoms since May, no periods since July and no babies... Ever! Lol.

I personally liked the mirena iud. I had no complications and no period for 4 years.
