Where should baby sleep?

Hey everyone, becoming first time mom here in July. Was wondering what everyone’s thoughts and recommendations were on newborn sleeping in a bassinet next to bed. And for how long ideally? Obviously would transition to crib but not exactly sure when. I’m sure I’ll get a better feel after baby arrives and I know how comfortable I’ll be with everything... just wondering what has worked for others or their plans!

The best advice I can give a first time mom, is don't listen to anyone's advice :) you'll figure out what feels right for you. And someone will always think it's wrong.
Mine slept in the bassinet til he didn't fit anymore. But I nursed 100% every couple hours so it was easier

Bassinet in your room. The recommendation is 6 months, and I was dead set on that...HOWEVER!
around 4 months, baby becomes SO aware of every little sound and is easily woken by you if you toss and turn, so...through the tears (because I didn’t want to be away from her), we moved her to her crib in her room at 4.5 months, and we all sleep much better now. Before that though, feeding is so frequent and they sometimes need you for comfort, AND you can detect if their breathing is off, they’re choking, etc., so I would recommend beginning in your room. (Some people start their babes off in their own rooms, and that’s okay too! To each their own.)

I’ve heard 3-6 months too but if you ask my sister-in-law she has slept in a queen bed with her daughter from infancy to 4 years old. Oh, and her husband sleeps in the master bedroom alone 😂😂 I tell her she’s crazy - she says it’s what her daughter wants and she will do anything for her child - she says I’ll see when I have kids...and I still think she’s crazy! I think she will see when I have kids lol 😜 😜 p.s. my niece still doesn’t sleep through the night and has separation anxiety. A+!!

We had our son with us until he was only getting up 1-2 times at night.  Maybe 6 months?

You really have to do what works best for you and your baby. My second child slept in a halo bedside me for the first two months. Once his feedings stretched out a bit, I put him in the nursery next door with a video monitor. I would feed him during the night in the glider and put him back in his crib. He actually slept better in his own, quiet room and I felt comfortable with that because it was so close to us anyway. Plus, it allowed my husband, who had to work, to get better sleep.

I’ve always had my babies in a crib or cosleeper in my room for the first year. SO much easier, especially when they are tiny and waking up frequently. Having to stumble down a hallway or to another floor in the middle of the night doesn’t sound fun to me

Were planning in the baby being in the halo bassinet by my side if the bed until 4 to 6 months. It says once baby starts moving it's no longer safe for them and to move them into a crib so that's when well swift baby to the baby room.
