Ovulated 18/22 December, 4 days late, 2 neg tests. Brown spotting. Is it too soon to show up on a test or am I getting my hopes up for nothing?

Answer

You don't track ovulation other than what an app tells you? If you ovulated at the latest through the app telling you - 22 December then your expected period day would be 5 January which was yesterday.
But if you ovulated late - which is very likely as the app is just a guess and you've only tracked through the app - then your expected period would also be due later.
I'd test every other day with first morning pee until either af or bfp arrives. If you're not successful this cycle grab some opk's (maybe en consider bbt charting to properly pinpoint ovulation) for your next cycle
