Would you be upset?

My fiancé and I got engaged on Memorial Day this past year, and we have been planning our wedding pretty much ever since. We set our wedding date for June 15th of this year. We currently don’t have any kids. 
Well, my brother just got engaged. He is three years younger than me, and started dating a girl back in February of last year. She already has two kids from a different guy, and now my brother and this girl are expecting a baby due in February. My brother proposed to her right after Christmas and now they are planning to get married two weeks before we are. 
Our situation is a bit different because my parents live in another country and only come to visit every few years. They are coming in special for my wedding. I just wish my brother would get married after us, or at least have asked me first. He only consulted with my mom and hasn’t talked to me about their wedding plans at all yet. I feel kinda like he’s stealing the limelight, having a kid and getting married before me. I’m worried that everyone will go to his wedding and it will be special and mine will be just a boring “second family wedding”. 
Do you think I have a right to be upset? Any advice for what to do in this situation?

Honestly I would be thrilled that they have a baby coming and has a wedding. They are family and we should be happy. Your wedding happens 2 weeks after them .. it's their time 2 weeks before and then it will be your time at your wedding

I think since traveling will be difficult for your family that you definitely have a right to be upset. Also it doesn’t seem fair to the family who may have to pick only one time to come to this country unless they stay for a few weeks

No - he wants your parents there for his too so because they dont come there often, thats how it has to be done. Weddings are about the bride and groom getting married. No one else really cares as much as you two, honestly. I dont say that to be rude.

I think I would be annoyed by the dates if your family has to come in from a different country. I think the other worries about being “second” are a little minor. Your marriage WILL be special, whether you’re “second” or not! Life isn’t a race, you don’t have to worry about being in 1st place 😊 I just hope your parents can be in the country for the wedding!

Maybe it's good your brothers wedding is close to yours! If your family only comes in once a year, maybe your mom suggested a wedding close to yours so it would be easier for her to attend both?

I don’t know. I think this might be a little petty. I think you should be happy for your brother and his soon to be wife. It’s not about “limelight” it’s about your marriage and the union of your family. The celebration. 
I had a similar situation with my wedding. My sister in law was engaged at the same time as I was. It was going to be really hard on my brother in law to fly across the country twice for both our weddings. So we made them exactly two weeks a part and they stayed here the two weeks to make sure everyone was involved. They flew home the day after my wedding. I was the “second wedding” I was not mad that they were that close; I was happy that everyone got to celebrate.  
Not hate at all. This is just my opinion. I truly don’t think having their wedding close to yours takes anything away.

I can understand how you would feel that way, but it probably makes sense that the weddings happen close together. Are you concerned that other family members might not be able to attend two weddings so close together?

I would definitely be upset but if your mom is ok with it then you don’t have to worry about the extra traveling. If people know the situation they won’t think twice about yours being another wedding. If I was family I would think damn we’ll go to his but they’re for sure rushing it. Yours on the other hand I see as something special and not “oops” wedding. Focus on your wedding and do you. Was it rude of your brother- hell yes! Do you have a right to be upset-hell yes! Should you worry about yours being 2nd best wedding- hell no! Enjoy your special day. Everyone can see the circumstances and in those cases people know. Your wedding will be filled with excitement and everyone will be there for you whereas your brother probably just there because family and to party! At least you can drink at your wedding AND won’t be a pregnant bride! Enjoy your day girl!
