What do contractions feel like?

I’m sure I would be able to identify the really strong and painful ones, but so many women say that they didn’t even know they were having contractions because they weren’t extremely painful. I have a lot of tightening, crampy feelings but I have no idea if they’re contractions. Anyone want to enlighten me as to what mild contractions feel like?

There are early contractions which you may not feel or just feel slight cramping. Real contractions will hurt. With my first they started off as bad cramping that was just like period cramping. Then they went deeper. Everyone is different. My contractions weren’t that bad until I was in transition and they were on top of each other. It was intense but not super painful

I was apparently having contractions all day 4-6 mins apart and had no clue. Once I was able to see them on the monitor I could match them to the feel. Basically the stronger ones felt like period cramps. But most of them my whole belly just felt tight, almost like babe was stretching out

From what I’ve gotten from having them is that they are true if they last for a minute and are 5 minutes apart and are consistent. Technically Braxton Hicks are true contractions they just aren’t strong enough or consistent to put you into active labor and make you’re cervix change.

My real labor contractions feel like waves of intense gas pain.

I think I’ve had both Braxton Hicks and real contractions. For me the Braxton Hicks were where my stomach got really tight but they didn’t hurt them the real contractions were low and and In was like sharp cramping for about a minute then would stop and do it again

I think I had some mild ones last night.  They felt like mild period cramps in my uterus.

I don’t think I’ve had real contractions yet because I don’t know how to tell either. My dr told me it’s tightening all over your belly
