Temporal artery thermometer on newborn?

Do I need to use a rectal thermometer on a newborn or can I use a temporal artery thermometer? The package claims you can use from birth.

Rectal is most accurate for babies under 6 months. Im a nurse and get mixed reaults from temporal thermometers

I have never done rectal on my 2.5yr old.  We did armpit temps for the first year and just added 1 degree.  Got as a birthday gift for her a temporal one and mainly use that unless for some reason I just want to double check and then will go back to armpit.  Will be doing the same for our little man

They did rectal one time while we were in the hospital and then all the other times the nurses used the armpit. At home I always use the temporal or In the ear
